Artist Statement and Bio
Robert Bolster
Born 1956
My art is a search for images and methods that when combined will make a painting which captivates its viewer. The journey began informally as a young boy and was crystallized when I attended and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. The path has taken me through the commercial realms of advertising and children’s books, but no part of my career has been as
pure or fulfilling as painting. Every painting takes me to the exact place where thousands of painters before me have been. It is a
blank white two-dimensional surface that holds the promise of a new learning experience and the
opportunity of completing a painting that someone will want to look at again and again.
